It’s that time of year again! In less than a week, Fashion Week of Rochester returns to celebrate local fashion, creativity and community during seven unique events spread over six days. Thousands will come downtown to see local boutiques, artisans, designers and models strut their stuff in support of The Center For Youth. Events range everywhere from an interactive fashion exchange to high-end runway shows, where attendees will see what the latest and greatest in the Rochester fashion scene are offering for the Fall/Winter and 2016 seasons.  (more…)

Attention Fashionistas: The wait is over…Fashion Week of Rochester is finally back! Running from Tuesday, October 14th until Sunday, October 19th, the week is comprised of runway shows and events that highlight local designers, artists and businesses as well as the history and beauty of Rochester, all while benefiting The Center For Youth. Venues around the city will be transformed to display the fashion, art, entertainment and the creativity of our community. Founders Elaine Spaull and Meghan Mundy have worked hard to create an event that appeals to all types of people. A full description of events complete with vendors can be found here on the official Fashion Week of Rochester website, and with a vast array of events over the six days and nights there is surely something for everyone. After a visit to The National Susan B. Anthony Museum and House this past Sunday, I left feeling inspired but also humbled. In this day and age, the efforts of Susan B. Anthony and her fellow suffragettes are often overlooked. Voting is a right that today many people (including women) take for granted. But less than 100 years ago, women were still denied this basic right. Women like Susan B. Anthony dedicated their lives to equality. They put themselves in harm’s way and tirelessly campaigned, petitioned and spoke all over America in order to gain equal rights for women. This Tuesday, August 26 is Women’s Equality Day; this day commemorates the passing of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. Most people know about the 19th Amendment, but what about the long and difficult road that led to it? (more…)
